  • In the variety of roles, I undertook at GBS, I was able to gain a good understanding of strategic planning and development of the school improvement plan (SIPSA) and how to execute plans for development and improvement. I developed and implemented a creative curriculum, based around teaching children skills that enabled children to become successful and to achieve their personal potential alongside the Ontario Curriculum Objectives. Through the analysis of data and pupil interviews I set whole school layered targets for literacy, as well as developing the schools reading scheme and introducing a program of study for phonics throughout the school in the languages program. As a result of the initiatives I developed and implemented, pupil’s knowledge and skills improved significantly in language literacy. In this role, I mentored new educators and this meant I acted as a mentor to colleagues from across the county by opening my Early Years setting for them to visit, observe, and discuss ideas and ways they could develop and enhance their own settings and practice
